Biographie
Très jeune, il est expédié chez sa tante à New York. En grandissant, il développe ses qualités de DJ.

En 1991, il gagne le prix Unsigned Hype Award du magazine de Rap The Source. Deux ans plus tard, il sort son premier single Born Loser chez Columbia Records.

DMX est également membre du groupe Ruff Ryders avec la rappeuse Eve et le rappeur Jadakiss. DMX perce petit à petit dans le milieu musical en participant à l'album 4,3,2,1 de LL Cool J. Il apparaît également dans l'album de Ma$e 24 Hours to Live et le remix de We Be Clubbin de Ice Cube. Ayant confirmé son potentiel, DMX signe un contrat avec Def Jam Records.

Il mélange sa passion pour les chiens qu'il assimile à la musique, il sortit le single Get at me Dog. En 1998, apparaît son premier album It's Dark and Hell it's Hot qui fut premier au classement Billboard. En 1998, son second opus Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood obtint un succès comparable au premier album. En 2000, il sort son troisième album And Then there was X qui suivit la lignée des précédents disques en se classant numéro 1.

Après quelques démêlés avec la justice, DMX retourne en studio en 2001 pour enregistrer The Great Depression. Il annonçait cet album comme le dernier, se vouant alors à être pasteur. Mais le public n'attendra pas longtemps le retour à la raison du rappeur. En 2003, apparaît son cinquième album The Grand Champ. Après ce nouveau succès, DMX tire sa révérence et quitte, sur décision personnelle, la scène hip-hop (jusqu'au prochain album?). Il crée également son propre label Bloodline Records où de jeunes rappeurs y émergent. Il fait également quelques apparition au cinéma comme dans En Sursis, où il a fait quelques morceaux de la bande originale Cradle 2 The Grave et un épisode de New York 911. Et il est enfin de retour pour nous en 2006 avec Sony comme label et il sort here we go again un album qui va promettre.The dog is Back !

Critique :

It's Dark and Hell is Hot est limite considéré comme un classique mais perso j'accroche pas du tout...y a des tracks que j'aime bien de lui mais bon c'est les trucs que tout l'monde connaît quoi. Bref artiste qui n'me colle pas.

un des rares rappeurs kainry dont j'kiff les sons, juste avec sa signature vocale et son flow y donne des frissons.

DMX c'est une sorte de Zidane quand même. "J'arrête, j'arrête pas, j'arrête, j'arrêtte pas".


Je suis pas un grand fan. Cependant il y a des sons qui sont frais pour écouter dans la caisse, les fenêtres ouvertes et l'air vénère avec le groupe de pote.
